Brothers and sisters, do not be afraid to welcome Christ and accept his power... Do not be afraid.

Open wide the doors for Christ.

“Open wide the doors to Christ.”

Pope Saint John Paul spoke these simple words so long ago, and yet they ring true to a need each and every one of us have in our spiritual life.

Perhaps it is time to dig deeper into these simple words, though, and into his message to “Be not afraid”! This simple phrase is used hundreds of times throughout scripture, and was a constant theme of Pope Saint John Paul II’s pontificate.  It isn’t just a phrase from the past, but a timeless reminder to influence our lives today, and shape the future tomorrow. Though he wasn’t the first one to coin this phrase, John Paul II’s use of that phrase (in many different languages and tongues) underscored the necessity of this simple imperative phrase in his time. Even in our time, though, this simple statement is needed, perhaps now even more than ever before.

So, the offering here, even as bold of a “mission” as it may be: may the humble phrase “be not afraid” lead you now and always towards God and into deeper recognition of His immense love for you. It is my prayer that anything you find here will help to aid you in sparking off, building, and strengthening your relationship with our Heavenly Father.
